Accessorize completes fundraising

Accessorize at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole has raised a total of £535 for Forest Holme Hospice, in memory of Rebecca Buckell.

The fundraising total was achieved through various activities held in store during the last week of May, including a raffle for handbags, second hand clothing sale, jewellery sale and a book sale.

Rebecca worked in Accessorize Poole and was cared for by Forest Holme Hospice during summer 2018. All proceeds from the fundraising week will be going directly to the hospice.

Hayley Darmody, branch manager at Accessorize Poole in the Dolphin Shopping Centre, commented: “We decided to fundraise for Forest Holme Hospice because Becky meant so much to all of us; as a friend as well as a colleague. She was beautiful inside and out and will forever be loved and missed.

“Becky was diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of 37 and after a very short battle she spent her final weeks in the hospice. The hospice was an incredible support to her and her family at the most difficult time.”

Forest Holme Hospice is a Poole-based charity, providing end of life care and support to more than 1,000 people each year with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses across Poole, Wimborne and the Isle of Purbeck. The charity is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Charlie James, fundraiser at Forest Holme Hospice, commented:  “We are so grateful to Hayley and the team at Accessorize Poole for choosing to support us in Becky’s memory and help ensure that the hospice’s essential services are there for others in the future. The team have raised enough to fund a block of counselling sessions for a family coming to terms with bereavement.”
