Art Exhibition inspired by nature at the Chesil Centre

Dorset Wildlife Trust’s (DWT’s) Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre is hosting its third autumn art exhibition, celebrating the work of local artists who have been inspired by nature.  The exhibition is open to the public and will run from Saturday 3rd November – Sunday 25th November 2018.

The artists* selected for this special exhibition are local people who have been inspired by the wildlife and natural environment in Dorset.  Mediums include willow sculpture, ceramics, photography, glass art and illustrations, to name a few.

New to the exhibition for this year is Jo Sadler, who creates willow sculpture.   Jo said, “I love making hares, geese and deer, foxes, owls and dogs, but anything can be made really.  I enjoy new projects and one-off pieces such as fairies and peacocks, even hedgerow baskets.”

Ceramic artist, Belinda Sales is also joining us for the first time. Belinda said, “My work is influenced by the Dorset Coastal scenery and my lifelong interest in wildlife.  I like to make ceramic pictures that are something different to the usual paintings and prints people have on their walls. I try to make my pieces bold and eye catching, with an element of fun about them.”

DWT’s Chesil Centre Assistant, Vicky Ashby said, “This art exhibition is a great time of year to celebrate nature, with the changing seasons and the scenic backdrop of Chesil Beach.  We’re looking forward to welcoming back our regular artists and welcoming some new ones to give our visitors a broad range of art work to browse and buy.  Visitors can also enjoy learning more about Chesil Beach and its wildlife, start their Christmas shopping in our gift shop, or have lunch in the Taste* Café.”

100% of the profits from art work sold goes straight back into wildlife conservation in Dorset.  All items for sale including originals, prints and cards
