Beales Gourmet bring drama to dinner for Sir Ian McKellen

Dorset’s leading event caterers, Beales Gourmet, have created a theatrical menu for a VIP dinner being hosted by Lighthouse, honouring the career of Sir Ian McKellen, and celebrating their close bond with him. Sir Ian is performing a one-man national tour, entitled: “Ian McKellen On Stage: With Tolkien, Shakespeare, Others and YOU!”, to celebrate his 80th birthday, and to raise money for theatrical organisations around the country. Twice nominated for the Oscar, and recipient of every major theatrical award in UK and US, Sir Ian McKellen is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest actors.

Managing Director of Beales Gourmet, Tony Beales, said:

We are honoured to have been asked to cater for this dinner in honour of one of Britain’s greatest stage and screen actors. We had a lot of fun putting this menu together – with plenty of references to Sir Ian’s varied career roles! We are also genuinely very proud to be supporting Bright Sparks tonight, and helping Lighthouse change the lives of so many young people through this project.

Elspeth McBain, Chief Executive at Lighthouse, said:

With huge thanks to our friends at Beales Gourmet – our catering partner – for sponsoring this event, and for creating something truly special for the evening. We know that guests are in for a real treat! All proceeds from the event will directly support Bright Sparks – Lighthouse’s programme of activity aimed at developing the next generation of arts practitioners. Lighthouse is dedicated to securing the future of the arts in this region, and the support of Beales Gourmet will help them to go further, enabling and inspiring the talented people of this region to develop professionally in a wide range of roles across the arts sector.
