Brain Injuries Don’t Just Affect The Victim

Brain injuries don’t just affect the victim but also their family, friends, colleagues and many other relationships, warn Coles Miller Solicitors.

Coles Miller is supporting Action for Brain Injury Week (May 14-20 2018), which is organised by the charity Headway.

This year’s theme ‘You, Me and Brain Injury’ highlights how the impact of these injuries goes far beyond the victim – affecting virtually everyone they know.

Headway will be showing how society can help people with brain injuries to adapt and to regain some of their independence.

Dorset-based Coles Miller helps injury victims across the country.

Partner Adrian Cormack is one of 53 solicitors in Britain to be named an Accredited Brain Injury Specialist by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

He is one of only seven APIL Accredited Brain Injury Specialists in the South West and the only one in Dorset.

Mr Cormack said: “There is no typical brain injury case – each one is very different.

“But generally the client will be suffering from post-traumatic amnesia, cognitive difficulties and fatigue. There can also be personality changes if it is a frontal lobe injury.

“The injury can affect their work, their family and their marriage – so you need a network of contacts to support both the brain-injured person and their family.”

Coles Miller’s brain injury solicitors help victims to claim compensation on a no win, no fee basis to fund the long-term treatment and care they need following their injuries.

Often, winning the case is just the beginning. Coles Miller will use its network of contacts to help the client find the right care, adapt their home and cope with their new life. Mr Cormack has been assisting some clients for at least 20 years.
