KFA’s Development Manager, Dave Spencer is in training for the London-Brighton cycle ride this September.
Dave has seen first hand what dementia can do to a family as his Mum has been affected by mixed dementia for many years now.
What began as mild confusion has now degenerated into a full-on lack of cognisance of anything in her life. She no longer knows who any of her family is, and spends her days sitting, just wasting away.
This first-hand experience has encouraged Dave to do something about it. He has decided to take part in the London – Brighton cycle ride on the 13th September 2020, to fundraise for the Alzheimer’s Society who are striving to create a world without dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Society’s research programme focuses on improving care for people with dementia today and finding a cure for tomorrow.
“Dementia does not just affect the individual – but it robs everyone involved of a life. It is a cruel and nasty disease, and it needs to end NOW!”
