Digital Storm win at the Wirehive 100 Awards 2018

Digital Storm, Bournemouth-based marketing agency and DCCI Business Partner, celebrated a fantastic win at the Wirehive 100 Awards 2018 on Thursday 11th October. Held at Southampton 02 Guildhall, the Wirehive 100 Awards celebrate the outstanding creative and technical talent that the South has to offer.

Digital Storm was crowned the winner in the Not for Profit Website of the Year category for the design and development of the Dorset Food & Drink website.

Dorset Food & Drink (DF&D) is the membership organisation for food and drink businesses in Dorset. DF&D needed a stand-alone modernised website. Digital Storm delivered a website with the core function as a directory which provides clear, simple and accessible information, informs and engages with consumers, does business with existing members and aims to recruit new members.

The award ceremony was an glamorous evening with a 1920s theme and Irish stand up comedian Ed Byrne presented the awards which consisted of 16 categories and then the Wirehive 100 League Table.  All of the judging is overseen by an independent panel of distinguished digital professionals ensuring a Wirehive 100 Award is a recognised and credible benchmark of digital excellence.

The judges described Digital Storms entry as “It can be really hard for a site that is not for a high-profile cause to compete against the powerful emotive content charities typically have. But the complexity of the challenge here and the elegance with which it has been solved make a really strong case. This entry showed real intelligence to the interface and design. Engaging, easy to use and attractive. That makes it a stand-out site and one well worthy of an award.

Digital Storm Account Director, Lesley Simmons, said, “We’re thrilled – the Not for Profit category is very important to Digital Storm. We work with a host of charitable organisations in the local area, so to win this category against so many other agencies just goes as testament to the great work that Digital Storm provides.”

The website has become a hub for all of the DF&D members to visit and has really helped to promote the Dorset Food & Drink community. “Digital Storm has given us confidence in our website and we now want to share it with as many clients as possible, it is so aesthetically appealing. The clear and concise nature of the site makes it easy to navigate and point existing and potential members to. Since our websites soft launch 2 months ago, we have had over 3600 hits and 12 new members, plus many enquiries through the website; helping us to build better relationships.” Stated Kiera Diment, Dorset Food & Drink.

Operations Director, Damion Hazael added “This recognition of our talent is the perfect way to end our 15th year anniversary celebrations. Overall it was a successful evening with many laughs and an achievement to be extremely proud of. This wouldn’t have been possible without the great team that we have here at Digital Storm!”
