Farmer Palmer’s Dougie Macandrew (aged 17) beats strong competition to win GOLD as ‘Customer Service Superstar’ in the 6th Dorset Tourism Awards.
The Dorset Tourism Awards took place on Thursday 8th November at Poole Lighthouse. There were a record breaking 72 trophies presented throughout the evening, which was hosted by Robin Barker of ‘Services for Tourism’ together with guest speaker; actress and impressionist Debra Stephenson.
The ‘Customer Service Superstar’ Award (sponsored by Bournemouth Water Business) recognises “individuals or small teams of up to 4 people working in the tourist industry that continually go above and beyond, offering exceptional customer service to visitors. It is intended primarily for customer facing ‘unsung heroes’. Nominations may be from another staff member, a member of the public or by Dorset Tourism mystery visitors”.
The presenter of the award gave a heart-warming introduction to the significance of this accolade, explaining there had been many nominations from across the county. As he was reading out the description of the ways in which the winner had gone above and beyond in his role, it quickly became clear that Dougie had won! He really is an incredible young man and an inspiration to anyone working in the Tourism Industry.

His respect for his team mates is superb. In 2018 he came to us with an idea inspired by customer service received on holiday. The idea fitted in perfectly with our business vision for the future.
