Final Countdown Begins to 2018 Swanage Carnival

The final countdown has started to this year’s Swanage Carnival with more than 100 events lined up for the week-long celebration.

Organisers are describing this year’s event, from Saturday July 28 to Saturday August 4, as bigger and better than ever.

The attractions include music, sport, fireworks, fun events and the carnival procession which has the theme ‘Swanage Goes Safari’

The procession, on Sunday July 29, will follow a 2.5 mile route and includes marching bands.

The carnival firework displays are on Saturday July 28 and August 4 and Wednesday August 1.

The 2018 Swanage Carnival Queen is Amey Towner, 15, who said she was “very excited” at winning the title.

She added: “I’m really looking forward to the whole week but particularly taking part in the procession.”

This year’s carnival queen contest was sponsored by Ellis Jones Solicitors.

Partner Craig Wells said: “As a law firm rooted in Swanage, it’s a real pleasure to support a fantastic community event which generates such a ‘feel good’ factor.”

Last year’s Swanage Carnival raised £25,600 which was distributed to 25 charities.
