Free Business-Focused Events At Bournemouth University’s Festival of Learning

Bournemouth University’s Festival of Learning is back for 2018, bringing learning to life with over 90 free events and activities.

The Festival runs from Saturday 16 – Wednesday 20 June, with a wide range of interactive workshops, talks, sports sessions and professional development opportunities on offer.

These include an exploration of the potential impact of Brexit on immigration and local businesses, a talk and masterclass on rebuilding trust after a crisis, and the chance to become more tax-savvy.

The Festival kicks off with a family day on BU’s Talbot Campus, with activities for all ages and two talks by biological anthropologist and presenter Professor Alice Roberts.

BU research will be taken out into the community on Sunday 17 June, with events taking place across Bournemouth and Poole.

These include the chance to explore BU’s Orthopaedic Research Institute, hear about the role of sharks in preventing climate change, and find out what makes an elite athlete at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium.

During the week, events and activities will run throughout the afternoon and evening back at Talbot Campus – including interactive workshops, talks and professionally-focused events.

Festival Director Jane Kavanagh-Lauridsen said: “We’ve got an exciting programme of free events, activities and opportunities to learn something new – from exhibitions to hands-on workshops, talks and sports sessions.

“We can’t wait to share the exceptional research being carried out at BU. We’d love for people of all ages to share in our discoveries and have the chance to engage and connect with our staff and students.”
