Langside School Delighted With Ofsted Visit

Langside, the Diverse Abilities run special school, recently received a visit from Ofsted. This was the first short visit the school had received since it was judged ‘good’ in September 2014.

Principal Jonathan Seaward is delighted that Ofsted recognised that the school has made improvements and could be judged as outstanding at the next inspection.

Jonathan said: “We are extremely pleased that we have upheld our good status. I am very thankful to the staff that work at the school, who work with complete focus and determination. We look forward to our next inspection as it will be an opportunity to demonstrate how far we have progressed.”

Ofsted reported that the leadership team were determined to secure the best outcomes for the pupils, as well as being ambitious for the school and have high expectations for the pupils. The report also mentioned that the staff respond with enthusiasm and look for creative solutions to help pupils move forward, become more independent and give them more choice.

Safeguarding was mentioned in the report and it noted that there is a strong culture of safeguarding and that the arrangements at the school are fit for purpose.

The report included how the school ensure pupils are ready for their next steps when they leave the school, which is a strength of Langside as they help pupils become more independent, are encouraged to contribute to community and extend experiences. Staff are also very active in ensuring that moves are made very early on to support parents with the choices available.
