Local Charity Celebrates 50 Year Anniversary

Join Autism Wessex for a Family Fun Day on Saturday 25th August at the Portfield School site in Christchurch to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Established in 1968 in a garden shed, by parents of children with autism, Autism Wessex has grown significantly over the years and now provides varied and far reaching services across the region.

Siún Cranny, CEO comments “Autism Wessex has made huge developments over the years. It is hard to believe it started out in a garden shed all those years ago. Now we offer a portfolio of social care and residential services, an educational provision, autism training and an information and advice service which is available to anyone affected by autism.”

Autism affects around 700,000 people in the UK. If you include their families, autism is a part of daily life for 2.8 million people.

Siún continues “Please join us from 2.30pm at our celebration event for a fun filled afternoon with food, drink, entertainment and games. Your support will help us continue to provide our vital services for people affected by autism and their families.”

The event is kindly sponsored by Williams Thompson Solicitors LLP. Suzanne Kadziola, Practice Manager/Partner of Williams Thompson Solicitors LLP said; “We are delighted to be supporting such a special event for Autism Wessex. We hope as many people as possible will join us there on the day and make it a truly memorable celebration.”
