Local leaflet distribution firm helps council provide essential link to the vulnerable and isolated
IMS Group, the largest leaflet distribution company in the BCP area has recently answered the call to help the elderly and vulnerable in New Milton, with one of their fastest ever turnarounds delivering an urgent ‘help and support’ message to over 10,000 homes.
With much of the country now in lock-down and many elderly and vulnerable people to having easy access to help and support on-line and on social media, New Milton Town Council turned to IMS Group to see if they could aid the town’s efforts to support those residents most in need.
IMS Group Director Mr Jason Harris (pictured) said “When I had the call from my Group Sales Manager to ask if we could print and deliver an urgent COVID-19 crisis help flyer to over 10,000 homes within a week, during lock-down, my first reaction was ‘this is a challenge!’ but I knew that we had it in us.”
He added “Like many companies we have effectively shut the office with staff working from home, but all of our systems are still fully operational. I had to consider the health and wellbeing of my distribution staff and balance this with the important message the council urgently needed to get out. I asked for some volunteers and was amazed at the take up from the wonderful people who make up our delivery teams”
Once we had the artwork, we proofed and printed over 12,500 flyers overnight and by noon the next day, our protected teams were out delivering the flyers, We were not alone in the task as the New Milton Covid 19 Support Group also had arranged some volunteers helping in the mammoth task using some equipment we loaned them for the purpose.
Within 2 hours we had a call from the council to say that they could tell once we started distributing as within half hour their phone lines lit up with people asking for help and support. Jason added “It was great to hear the huge response in people asking for help, but in a strange way its upsetting, all those people need help and only this flyer drop reached them. It did make me wonder how many people are feeling isolated and forgotten in other areas. I know council’s are doing their best, but not everybody has access to social media or websites so could end up feeling very isolated and alone”
