Neon Runners Light Up the Night

Poole Park was well and truly glowing on Saturday as hundreds of runners took part in the Dorset Neon Run, in aid of Diverse Abilities.

Over 400 people ran or walked the 5k course donning their neon paint, tutus, glow sticks and bracelets, raising over £10,000 for the charity that supports children and adults living with disabilities in Dorset.

Local radio station Hot 102.8 supported the event and provided sizzling sounds throughout the night and Clubbercise instructor, Emma, got everyone in the party mood by hyping up the crowds with a fun-filled warm up before they set off for the run.

Congratulations go to the first-place runner Finlay Rudd, second place Jason Sherman and third place Massimo Lawson.

Lauren McCullough, event manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “We were thrilled with the turnout at our Poole Dorset Neon Run. Everyone looked amazing in their neon bling and really lit up the night while raising funds for Diverse Abilities, supporting hundreds of local people living with disabilities.

“A big thank you goes to everyone that took part, our fantastic volunteers and staff plus Hot Radio and Clubbercise instructor Emma. We are looking forward to our next Dorset Neon Run taking place in Weymouth during September and we already have a date for the event in Poole next year!”

The Weymouth Dorset Neon Run takes place on 8 September at Lodmoor Country Park and is open to anyone over the age of 12. Registration is also open for our next Poole Dorset Neon Run taking place on 27 April 2019.
