“We currently have a wheelchair tennis group that is run on a Tuesday and we are just about to run another wheelchair group on a Thursday,”says Dave Sanger, Southbourne Tennis Club Head Coach.“We would encourage any person with a physical impairment and any wheelchair users to try our club, where we have coaching, accessible facilities and the chance to play against and alongside non-wheelchair players, friends and family.”
The club now has over 450 Adult, Junior and Mini Tennis members and provides social and competitive tennis for all ages and abilities.
J.P. Morgan made a donation to purchase a sports wheelchair to support the disability tennis programme and Caroline Donnell, a member of the Community Relations Committee commented.“We are delighted to have been able to help in this way.”
(J.P. Morgan employs 4,000 technology and operations staff at its Bournemouth Corporate Centre and has a strong history of community engagement).
“We are planning to run a fun social Wheelchair tournament on Saturday 10th June,”added Dave.“We also have an Open Day on Saturday 17th June in partnership with Bright Ideas for Tennis where some ex Professional Players and ex Davis Cup players will be on hand to pass on some tennis wisdom”
