Partners join forces to help families stay safe

Organisations including the RNLI, fire service education team, Dorset Police, St John’s Ambulance, road safety team, Network Rail, ESET and others will be on hand to help families discover how to stay safe this summer – be it on the streets, in the water or on the internet.

They’ll join forces at a one day only event SafeWise Bournemouth Junior Safety Inspector event during the half term school holiday on 30 May.

SafeWise Bournemouth Manager Elise St.Hill said: “Our Junior Safety Inspector event is a great opportunity for families to have fun together and pick up some valuable skills for life about staying safe this summer.

“It’s a one day only special event and spaces are limited, so I would urge people to book online soon as our family events usually sell out very quickly.

“All entry fees help SafeWise charity continue to deliver essential skills for life education to children and other audiences across Dorset.

“We’re delighted that many organisations are coming in to help out and I would like thank them for their support.”

The Junior Safety Inspector event is aimed at children 5-10 years old – but all ages are welcome – and takes place at SafeWise Bournemouth’s interactive learning village on Elliott Road.

Visitors complete a self guided treasure hunt to solve clues and practice being safe whilst exploring the SafeWise learning village along the way. It comes complete with road, beach, train, bus, house and many other scenarios – all under one roof.

Every child that completes the tour and qualifies as a Junior Safety Inspector receives a certificate at the end of their visit.

Visitors can also buy lunch and refreshments from a pop-up cafe run by the Crumbs Project.

Booking online is required at www.safewise.org/events and costs £5 per person (+small booking fee) – under 4s go free.
