When do we think about recruiment?

Recruitment is not the hot topic agenda item for many businesses right now.  Oakmount Control Systems Limited is no different, however pre COVID-19 ambition lives on and the business is working hard to get back to a position where recruitment is not only a normal agenda discussion point, but a reality.

Supporting their customers in the pharmaceutical, food and medical industries during the pandemic has meant that the Yeovil site and the Plymouth HQ have remained open during the pandemic.  However, this has not left them unfamiliar with terms which are now commonplace, such as social distancing and furlough, a word we have all learned how to pronounce!

Moving business forward requires both drive, ambition and skilled creative people and Oakmount Control Systems Limited have no shortage there.  They have designed and supplied hand sanitiser dispensers and social distancing guards, which would normally be used to protect the automation machines they design and manufacture as part of their core business. They have even looked into using Thermal Imaging Cameras so large companies and venues can triage people who are potentially at risk as they enter a building.

Having received the UK’s first self-driving forklift truck from Global AGV last week, they have had to find creative ways to carry out online training for Engineers at the Yeovil and Plymouth sites with the Danish manufacturer, a first for both companies.  Adding successful new products to the portfolio and significantly increasing the company’s footprint with the purchase of a new HQ on the eve of lockdown will not just get recruitment back on the agenda but will create exciting new technology careers in this forward thinking automation business.
