For the second year running, the Bournemouth & Poole College Students’ Union (BPCSU) has won a prestigious award at the national NUS Awards in Birmingham.
The College beat off stiff competition to win the Democracy Award for their highly successful Student Voice Conference, and for their Student Voice activities, along with the development of the Student First website.
“All of this highlighted to the judges how we make students very much the centre of both The College and the Students’ Union,” said Lloyd Perry, Student Services Manager.
“A huge thanks go to the BPCSU student executive team and the BPCSU staffing team who have made such a positive impact on our students during their time with us.”
The BPCSU has been representing students at The College for over 40 years. As well as winning national awards it also secured a ‘good’ grading last year following an assessment by the National Union of Students.
“Being part of the Students’ Union has many benefits,” said Lloyd Perry. “Everyone is part of a community, it’s a platform for airing your points of view within The College, and it gives students access to clubs and societies, as well as trips and events.”
The NUS Awards have been celebrating the work done by students’ unions for the last eight years and are an opportunity for Students’ Unions to gain national recognition for their efforts. The awards are judged by an experienced panel from across the education sector.
