A trek for Tyler’s Friends

A team of trekkers from Dorset’s Douch Family Funeral Directors will be travelling the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

It is to raise money for their charity of the year, Tyler’s Friends, which supports bereaved parents.

Staff will walk, cycle, run or row with every inch being recorded until they hit 874 miles – 1,407 km.

With their planned fundraisers having been cancelled or postponed due to coronavirus the company has been raising money online instead.

Tyler’s Friends helps bereaved parents have the funeral of their wishes for their baby or child.

It also provides memorial headstones for babies and works to improve relationships between medical and funeral professionals.

Managing director of the funeral group, Nick Douch, said: “Tyler’s Friends is a wonderful charity and we were hoping to raise a lot of money for it this year.

“The coronavirus crisis ended our planned events but we have been running online campaigns to try raise as much as we can.

“The Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge was a bit much for an individual, but as a team we want to cover the distance – by any method.

“And we’d love people to get involved and offer their support by way of sponsoring us.”

Douch Family Funeral Directors operates branches in Wimborne, Ferndown, Wareham, Poole, Swanage, Blandford and Corfe Mullen.
