Environmental and wellbeing stars at DBAs

Two award categories introduced in 2018 return for the Dorset Business Awards 2019; Dorset Environmental Award, and Employee Health and Wellbeing Award.

The Employee Health and Wellbeing Award, sponsored by Ouch Training Team, honours an employer that is leading the way in its commitment to the health and wellbeing of their workforce. Bournemouth-based Organix won in 2018 for its ‘Wake up to Wellbeing’ programme, which includes all aspects of staff support from financial advice through to familial initiatives.

Simon Cassin, CEO of Ouch Training Team, commented: “Any organisation which values its people, deserves to be recognised by the business community in which it operates. At Ouch we believe all people should have the opportunity to live a life which has meaning, value and purpose. By sponsoring this award, we hope to inspire those who understand the importance of employee health and wellbeing.”

Returning sponsor Dorset Wildlife Trust is joined by Kingston Maurward College for this year’s Dorset Environmental Award. This category seeks to recognise a business with outstanding commitment to managing its environmental impact. Last year the award was presented to Tops Day Nurseries for its eco-friendly ethos running through all aspects of the business.

Dr. Simon Cripps, chief executive of Dorset Wildlife Trust, and Luke Rake, principal and CEO of Kingston Maurward, agree on the principals of why companies should enter this award: “Protecting our environment is really important for business in Dorset, which is a big part of the county’s brand. We are keen to ensure that the many environmentally active companies in Dorset get the credit they deserve for some great work.”

The Awards, supported by the Daily Echo and Wave 105, are now open and are free for everyone to enter. Entrants will need to complete and submit an entry via www.dorsetbusinessawards.co.uk by Friday, August 2. Finalists will be invited to the glittering Gala Dinner on Thursday, November 28 when the winners will be announced.

Stuart Dixon, head of marketing and communications at Dorset Chamber, added: “The Dorset Business Awards are a fantastic opportunity to have your business recognised by its peers across the county. There’s a category for everyone and plenty of opportunities to have your hard work honoured, whether you are a Chamber member or not.”
