AFC Bournemouth’s Healthy Lifestyles programme is sponsored by law firm Trethowans.

Club captain Francis and midfielder Cook were on hand to stress the significance of the topic and took part in a question and answer session.

Additionally, a short quiz with the pupils allowed them to win some fantastic Cherries merchandise, including a t-shirt and a goody bag.

The pair also posed for photographs and signed autographs, much to the delight of the youngsters.

Following the session, AFC Bournemouth head of community Steve Cuss spoke about the success of the programme.

He said: “It’s all about teaching the children about the diet and the need to maintain an active lifestyle.

“It was great having the two players in attendance – it’s really nice for the kids to see their role models in the flesh.

“As part of the programme we have looked at the players’ diets and how they exercise and it was important that they were fully able to answer any questions that the children had.”

James Kidner, from sponsor Trethowans, said: “It was fantastic to hear from the guys and I think we were all able to learn something.

“It is a brilliant thing for these two popular players to get out in the community and see some kids who are clearly in love with their local team.”
