Getting Muddy To Raise Money For Charity

Public relations account manager, Alice Rook, from PR, marketing and communications agency Liz Lean PR, has raised more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society by completing the gruelling Tough Mudder Half South West challenge.

Alice decided to complete the 13 obstacle, five mile Tough Mudder course to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society because a close member of her family has been affected by the disease.

In the three weeks leading-up to the event, Alice went running each morning before her working day to improve her stamina and fitness.

Alice said: “I completed Tough Mudder with two friends, Amie Stebbing and Carla Brookes. On the day of the event we all got stuck in and it was amazing to see such great teamwork from everyone involved. I loved the whole experience so much that I’ve signed up for Tough Mudder Half South West 2019, so I will start my training again soon!

“I had my own personal reasons for signing up to the event and choosing to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. My Grandad who just celebrated his 90th birthday has dementia which has impacted not only his life but my whole family, and thinking of him during the course helped me push through the challenging obstacles.”

Liz Willingham, managing director, Liz Lean PR: “We’re incredibly proud of Alice and have sponsored her for undertaking this challenge and raising funds for a charity which is so close to her heart. Five miles and 13 obstacles is no mean feat, and the bruises Alice has come out with prove that she gave it her all. Alzheimer’s is so cruel for the person who it affects and also their family around them, so raising money for such a worthy charity is a wonderful achievement.”
