Thank You To The Oddfellow Arms

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, would like to thank The Oddfellow Arms in Wimborne for choosing them as its charity of the year during the past 12 months and raising over £2,400.

The pub’s support started in early 2018 when they put on an open mic night called ‘I can’t believe it’s not a folk club’ as part of the charity’s Sing to Raise initiative. The weekly open mic night is organised by Paul Thomas and the landlady, Mari-Clare Parrin, kindly allowed Diverse Abilities to fundraise during the evening via a raffle, raising £613.

From here onwards, The Oddfellow Arms decided to support Diverse Abilities for a full year. The support continued by arranging various fundraising activities including an all-you-can-eat Mexican feast, a bake sale and counter top collection pots.

Mari-Clare Parrin, The Oddfellow Arms, landlady said: “I just want to say how proud I am that we’ve been able to support Diverse Abilities over the past year with its wonderful work. I would also like to give a huge thank you to the incredibly generous patrons of The Oddfellows Arms who have managed to raise this tremendous amount.”

Nicole Warrilow, corporate and community manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “The charity’s Sing to Raise initiative will be taking place again this May, with the launch and finale events taking place in Wimborne Square. The Oddfellows Arms and its customers will be supporting again, so please come along to one of their events to show your support.”
