WAY Investment Services Invest In The Future of Young People

A Wimborne based financial services group is supporting school leavers in taking their next steps towards employment.

CEO of WAY Investment Services, Ian Hobday, attended Highcliffe School in Christchurch on Monday 9th July to deliver a presentation highlighting what employers are looking for when choosing candidates.

The talk was part of the larger Dorset Chamber’s Young Chamber programme, of which Highcliffe School is a member. The Young Chamber, sponsored by Hoburne Group, was created in response to the annual Ofsted report to Parliament in December 2015, which outlined the importance of strong career advice and guidance while identifying the need for schools to improve their links with employers.

During the presentation, Mr Hobday enlightened student’s as to what skills they should focus on and how to approach potential employers, reflecting on his 40 years of experience.

Mr Hobday said: “It’s an honour to be able to connect with a younger audience while helping them with career choices and their next steps after school.

“Students need motivational guidance with the variety of routes to different careers and they need to be clear on what is needed to succeed in the workplace. My career has allowed me to gain a variety of transferrable skills applicable to all walks of life which I was able to share with the students.”
