Women business leaders are being invited to have their say in shaping Dorset’s economy.
Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)- a business led private and public sector partnership that aims to promote local economic growth and prosperity across the region – is hosting a special ‘round table’ event next week to ensure women’s voices are heard.
Influential female entrepreneurs, small business owners and major employers are set to join the event, which is being held in Bournemouth.
Dorset LEP’s deputy chair, Sara Uzzell, is hosting the event. She said: “We want to work with as broad and diverse a group of talented business leaders as possible.
“The purpose of this event is to share and discuss ideas about how we – as a region – can better encourage and support opportunities for women to engage in vital strategic decisions that affect the local economy.”
Dorset LEP is driven strategically by a Board of leaders from across the private and public sector.
The aim of the Board is to provide strategic oversight of Dorset’s economy and make decisions and direct actions that will help Dorset’s economy innovate and grow.
Director of Dorset LEP, Lorna Carver, added: “We are starting with a small group of women leaders and we want to listen to their thoughts and advice.
“Our ultimate aim is to reach out to all Dorset business women so we can get more of them influencing the strategic economic direction of the county.
Dorset LEP receives funding to support and deliver projects of long term economic benefit for all in Dorset.
Its board of directors consists of business leaders from different sectors, local authority representatives, and Higher and Further Education sector representatives. Their priority is to make decisions with Dorset’s best interest in mind.
