Yellows go green

Yellow Buses has become greener after being recognised for its environmental management system.

The Bournemouth-based company has attained British Standards Institution’s ISO 14001, which marks its commitment to being a cleaner, greener company.

Driver Kevin Brolan went on a course to learn what was required to achieve the exacting standard.

Phil Pannell, service delivery director at Yellow Buses, said: “It is not easy to gain the certificate.

“We had to implement systems and then were assessed on what we had done.

“The certification covers all waste management, from the oil and old steering fluid to general rubbish.

“We have analysed what we do with our water, our gas, electricity and when we have the air conditioning turned on.

“Yellow Buses are committed to being a greener company and our newer vehicles are much more environmentally friendly than those we have used in the past.

“We will continue to improve and are already working towards further BSI standards.”
